Notes for Jean (Spouse 1)
Jean dit Bellerive et Saint-Francois (1642I693), married Marguerite Hertel de la Fresniére in 1663.
As the seigneur of Saint—Francois—du-Lac, he was harvesting with several of his habitants, in the fall of 1693, when they were set upon and captured by the Iroquois. They took the prisoners back to their base near Albany and proceeded to torture them. They tore out Creviers fingernails and were preparing to burn him at the stake when, Colonel Peter Schuyler, commander of Fort Albany, hearing the news, ransomed him for fifty louis: Crevier died in Albany from his ordeal soon thereafter. 5

Jean, the third son, was the best known of all: He was the seigneur of SaintFrancois-du—Lac and left many children. To the everlasting embarrassment of Pierre Boucher, his "in-laws" engaged in the shady business with ardor and elan. They traded powder, shot, firearms, blankets, clothing and brandy for furs. Three of the Crevier boys were massacred by the Iroquois. 5
