“Three additional couples were living in Montréal by the end of 1648. Françoise Morin had married Étienne Dumais in Québec on January 28, 1648. This was her second marriage. Five months earlier, on August 19, 1647, she had wed Antoine Pelletier in Québec. Less than three months after their marriage, Antoine drowned when his canoe overturned in the river near their home.
Marie, the first child of Françoise Morin and Étienne Dumais, was born at Ville-Marie on May 31, 1649. It is presumed this child died as there is no record for this child other than baptism. The couple did not stay in Montréal. Their second child, born in 1650, and those that followed, were born in Sillery, near Québec.”
