This thirty-first of January 1679 was a great day: the Seigneur of Cap Saint—Miche1 gave two of his daughters in marriage; besides Marie—Anne who was married to Jean Brodeur, there was Jeanne, who married Ignace Hebert. Three Seigneurs were present as witnesses at this marriage: Jean—Baptiste Le Gardeur, Sieur de Repentigny; François Jarret de Vercheres (father of the famous heroine Madeleine); and Jean—François Bourdon, the Seigneur of Dombourg, a Captain in the Navy and later, a merchant of Quebec.
