Notes for Marie Soulinier (Souligny)
10Fille a Marier
“Jeanne Mance brought at least three filles à marier to Ville-Marie when she returned from France in 1650. On November 14 of that year, Catherine Delavaux married Gilbert Barbier dit Minime a master carpenter who had arrived in the summer of 1642.[ 125] Another of these women was Marie-Marthe Souligny, a twenty-four-year-old widow who exchanged wedding vows with Jean Leduc on November 11, 1652.”
